Suburban clamshell help
I have a 65 gmc with clamshell doors mine is missing the arms that hold up the door. has anyone converted there's to gas charged struts?

I'm in the process of converting mine to struts right now. I'll let you know how that goes in a few days.

The barn doors thread is a great place to start, however you need different struts.
I'm in the middle of this right now, I'm using those little ball studs and then the struts I ordered were too long when closed so the door wouldn't shut. I'm just going to drive it down to an auto parts store in the next few days and see if I can try a couple struts until I get the right ones. Also I do believe there is a link if you read through the barn door thread about clamshell door struts. It goes into detail about how to make it work. |
