Left turn signal mystery

When I got my truck the wires to socket were cut at the very base so I got a new socket and I have it wired up but when I turn on the park lights or the turn signal it won't turn on? It's getting power at the socket and I've put in 2 different bulbs and it still won't come on.when I hit the lever for the left turn the dash indicator is just a steady green but won't flash if that helps.also the blue wire is acting as a ground when I have the park lights on and I haven't tried it with the signals,is that of any importance?

Re: Left turn signal mystery

I'm no guru but the solid turn signal indicator sounds like a bad flasher unit - also, a good solid ground makes the world of difference. A bad ground can cause all kinds of really weird issues. I had to hard wire a solid ground from the bucket (tail light housing) to the frame to fix my "ghost" issues.

if it has a med./light duty flasher then if one lite is not working then it wont flash that is there to tell you that a light is not working... does it flash on the right side? with the wires unhooked from the socket take a test light and see if you have both park and turn power on the wires then you can narrow it down

I'm getting power at the socket when turn signals are on and also getting power when park lights are on.is there a reason why the bulb still isn't coming on?the power is constant when the turn signal is on if it's any importance.also the right signal works fine.

Re: Left turn signal mystery

the light can and socket have to be grounded after looking at your pics again i see that the can is just laying on the core support get it grounded and see what that does.... as i said before if you have a light duty flasher then when only one bulb is on/working then it WONT flash it will just stay on... your meter is not enough load to make it think there is a bulb in play
