12" superlift problems...
I recently put a 12" lift on my 79 Chevy. Everything went together real good. But I cant make the front drive line work now. I was told to shim the front leaf pack . Im trying to get it ready for some local mud boggs. Anyone have some ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: 12" superlift problems...
I'm assuming the angle to steep? Normally, when you lift your truck that high you have to go with a high angle drive line.

Re: 12" superlift problems...
you could shim it, but you will most likely screw up your caster.
the best way would be to cut & turn your knuckles (expensive $). i'm running 8" lift in my crew, to make the front work without binding i dropped my t-case, ground out the stops on the cardon at the t-case & put a longer, hi-angle slip on the diff end of the d.shaft. been running it for yrs with no troubles |

Re: 12" superlift problems...
1 of 2 options for that much lift, a driveline from Jessie at high angle driveline I think in $800.00 range or a divorced transfercase. I don't think there is anyway to make a stock driveline work no matter how much you shim the front axle, dropping the transfercase only makes the front angle worse because it tips the transfercase up.

Re: 12" superlift problems...
you need to do the ole' cut and twist..
cut the knuckles loose, twist the axle to point the pinion where you need it, and reweld the knuckles... you'll keep the stock caster.

Re: 12" superlift problems...
another option would be to throw a doubler in there & cut your angles down.
it's not a 12" lift, (8"), but i dont think your going to get more stock than this. dropping the t-case minutely raises the front, but the overall drop more than out weighs that. stock driveshaft with ground stops on the cardon & a spicer hi-angle, longer slip (very nice piece worth the money) on a stock low pinion D60. |

Re: 12" superlift problems...
6" lift kits say "may require driveline modifications. 8" and up definitely require longer driveshafts on both ends.

call me lucky or whatever, but i'm running the stock d.shafts in my 8" lifted k30 crew. the front shaft i did buy a longer slip yoke, but the rest of it is GM 1 ton issue. the rear shaft all i did was drop the carrier bearing down a few inches with a piece of sq tubing, the aft part pulled off the slip about 3/4", have never managed to yank the other 4" off the slip.... |

Re: 12" superlift problems...
What about using a dropped tcase (not sure of the propper term) but like they use for the bigger trucks the drops both front and rear shafts down
