Wiper motor only works when you push it.
Hi guys,
On my '72 C-20 the wiper motor used to work when I would twist the knob, the intermittent function. But now it will only work if I push down on the knob, it makes a clicking sound and the wipers move once, not continuously. Do I need a new motor? What steps do I need to trouble shoot?

Well when you push the button in, that turns your washer pump on and that is your clicking noise, I would replace the switch and see if that corrects your problem. The wipers come on when you push the button in so i would not think the motors bad.

Mine does the same thing, I'm sure it's the switch and have one to replace although the click sound, does that mean the pump part is working?

A little standard screw driver to take off the knob then take off the nut that holds the switch in and then remove it out the back.

That means the pump is on but might not be good enough to pump because the diaphram is bad.

This thread explains how to test your wiper motor if you need to. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=413551 Scroll down to the "two speed" wiper section.... LockDoc
