New to the Forum
Hello everyone, this is my first post. I've been a member for a few months now. I'm overwhelmed with the knowledgable folks on this site and the vast amount of information available. Over the next few months I'll be leaning on you guys and gals and bending your ears.
I've wanted to do a C10 project for many years and recently located a barn find. Actually it was stored in a truck box since 1990! Spent its working life in Tennessee was sold new by EB Smith Chev in Nashville. Its a 1970 SWB has a 307 three speed on the column power steering and HD leaf suspension, HD shocks with 6ply tires. Pretty weird suspension and tire options for a short box. Has original paint which for now I'm leaving as the original patina. I'd like to drive it a couple years before I do the body and paint. The plan is to go to 5 lug, lower with an axle flip and drop spindles with disc brakes and lowering coils in the front if needed Here is my first question. The rear leaf has the additional helper spring G70 option and F 52 HD shock option. The fender well height is 33.5" rear and 32.75 front My understanding is an axle flip kit will give me a 5.5" approx. drop. For the truck to sit level would or should I use a 2" lowering coil as well as a 2.5" drop spindle? |

Welcome from way down here in Florida also. If you check out some of the amazing build threads in here you will get a pretty good idea how to drop the truck correctly without too much trouble.

Welcome! One thing to keep in mind is that there are enough people who have done enough trucks and asked enough questions here that the odds are most of your questions will have already been answered in the past - so search is your friend. Be sure to check the radio button to search the forum, not Google (unless you add the site: tag, I guess).

Thanks for the welcome everyone!
I've attached a few shots of the new project, I've decided to call her Roxie. I have and will continue to use the search, just didn't have any luck and wanted your opinions with my current ride height and using a flip kit what you would suggest in the front to level the truck. |

Hey thanks again for all the welcomes!
I'll start a new thread as I get going with the project "Roxie". I've been able to grab enough time to get the cab started, passenger side inner and outer rockers are mocked up and ready to be tacked. Replaced the floor supports as well. Still need your help with my ride height, can't find what the factory ride height should be. I want to get some parts ordered but want to make sure I order the right length front coils. Right now I've got a 1" difference from front to back. Rear has 5 leaf total, 4 and the helper Wheel well to floor 33.5". Center of axle to the top of wheel well 21.75" Front Wheel well to floor 32.5". Center of spindle to top of wheel well 20.75" I guess my question is if that is typical front ride height? Or with the HD suspension option the truck has does it have a beefier front spring and sit higher. Appreciate the help |
