fuel tank questions
i just received a set of tanks from lmc...
i ordered them with out seeing them...i assumed that if i bought tanks for a lwb truck, then that would replace mine just fine....well they came in and are huge 20gal tanks. i know they wiil fit...but can the brackets that i have on the smaller tanks fit...or do i need new brackets for the rear of the tank? i was gonna return them, but seeing that i have a 454 to put in it, i think i will need the extra fuel capacity..hehehehe i want to get these in this weekend so i can get my 454 in within the next couple weeks.... will the old sending units work right with the new bigger tanks. i assume they will since there was no note to needing a certain sending unit! |

mainly, they just seem to be longer. but the mounting positions are a little different on the new tanks vs. old tanks.
they came late last night and i didnt get a chance to really look..."it was dark" so today after work i will check them out better and see if the existing mounts can be used.. |

well, that may be true....but, as im looking in the lmc catalog, there is a disclaimer that says..NOTE: some lwb trucks came with 16 gallon tanks please measure yours before ordering! hehe DOH! so LWB did come with small tanks..my 81 came with a 305. that could explain the smaller tanks...
well they are goin back and the smaller ones are coming... the filler tubes and all would have to be a little shorter. and im not into modifying gas tanks, so the correct ones will be here soon...hopefully.. |
