Cool post man. If you like that, gimme a few months and I can show you a prototype modular engine system that makes a 4, 6 and 8 cyl engines that share rods, pistons and heads. The 6 cyl variant spins to over 12k, and made nearly 1200hp.

One of the things I like about it is that it is a retrofit so it could be added to an existing ls platform, just wonder how much the price tag on that would be

I'd love to see that

That one uses weird pushrods that still use the original cam to drive the valves, which seems like a nightmare. The one at the top seems one step closer to the old DOHC ZR1 motor.

blackedoutshorty- I'll dig up the test video of the i6 in a pull-truck running n/a against Cummins 5.9 turbo's.

I stopped by the Merc Racing booth at SEMA and talked to the guys there. The DOHC LS conversion is going to be between $8-10k and will include the dummy idler cam, heads, front cover, and intake. Current off the shelf LS headers will also bolt right up to it, and they said that these will flow well over 400 cfm...as cast.

Re: New four valve head for ls engines coming soon:)

The real star of that booth was the Charger with Merc's clean sheet designed QC4V 1650 engine. 9.0L, all aluminum, 4 cam, 32 valve, twin turbo, dry sump, marine proven engine. Merc has been killing it in the powerboat market with these....however the price tag on a 1650 QC4V mated to an M8 sterndrive is in the $275k neighborhood. lol.

I did engine development for Mercury Marine when I was in college....so these boat motors have a special spot in my heart

Do want. Sorry my pics suck. My phone was still drunk.
