torque converter
I have what I believe to be a 325hp+/- 350 motor and 3.73 rear.
I'm replacing the 700r4 trans which was burnt up when I purchased the truck. Can someone help me choose a torque converter that would be suitable for a street driven 4x4 that would go off road or tow close to never. Added performance would be great but, reliability is the main concern. |

What cam does the motor have? That would be the deciding factor for the correct stall. Stay away from B&M converters. They like to explode and take the whole tranny with it.

Are you staying with the TH700R4 transmission? If so what year is the replacement transmission you are using?

Never had an issue with any of my B&M converters.
For a stock to street mild cam, I'd go with a 2400-2600. I tend to like higher engagement however. 2200-2400 would be fine for others. Brand is "you get what you pay for", so don't go too cheap. Choose a nice mid price range from any major brand and you'll be good. I've had Yank, B&M, Hughes, and a few others and never had an issue with any of the "good ones". I had one no name brand 2600 and had lockup failure (studder step, in and out action) after about 10,000 miles. Replaced it with the Yank and never looked back.

I contacted several companies with my specs, and they all pretty much recommended the same stall and gear for the truck I had with the engine I had built. Go with their recommendation - they tend to know what would work best. I am very happy with the 2500 in mine (10.9:1, 350/TH350, cam is 231@050, 108LSA, 104ICL).
