5.3 exhaust manifold questions

62 C10 frame, 78 c10 front end:
Looks to me like the stock 5.3 exhaust manifolds are too wide for the 62 c10 frame? I just removed the 5.3 from the donor and set the y-pipe into the frame of the 62. Do I need to use different exhaust manifolds? Or trim frame?
Anyone done it to a 62? I believe the frames on 61-63 are different from 64-66?

Re: 5.3 exhaust manifold questions

In the engine and drivetrain area there is a sub forum for LSX swaps. I believe from what I have read, the Trailblazer SS or Hummer H3 manifolds will work. Doug Thorley has a header that works too ( Shorty and mid, don't use the long) if you want to spend a few bucks more.

here is the link to the LSx group.

as stated before, TBSS and Hummer mani's work best because they hug the block so well. I have Sanderson Shorty headers and I like them. there is also Doug Thorley long tubes also.

Re: 5.3 exhaust manifold questions

The '60-'62 have the X-member frames. The '63 was the first year of the ladder type frame. The frame shouldn't make much difference in what exhaust manifold to use. Where you may have issues is with the exhaust from the manifolds back.
