Please Help! Looking For A Family Heirloom

Hey Everyone, sorry for the long winded first post:

New guy here. I found this forum while in search of my old '71 K5. I'll give you a little background.

My Granddad bought a 1971 K5 from a guy in Grass Valley back in the 70s (I'm not sure when) for about 5 grand. He kept it until about the mid-90s, when he sold it to my father. In 2002, after working a couple of summers during high school, I finally saved up enough cash to buy it from my old man and have it painted. I then ended up blowing up the 327 (Granddad put it in there at some point in time) and bought a crate 350 to put in it.

2005 comes around and I graduate high school. I took the old K5 with me to college in Reno, where I learned that I was no where near mature enough to be on my own just yet. I decided to enlist in the Marine Corps.

I left the Blazer at home (Virginia City, Nevada) under my old man's care while at boot camp, and following that, I returned home for 10 days of leave, prior to shipping back out for more training without my Blazer.

I had been in Pensacola for about 6 weeks when I called home one day. Everything seemed normal, until I asked my old man how the Blazer was running.

He then informed me that he had sold it. I was pretty bummed.

Now it's 8 years later, and I have a son of my own. I would give almost anything to have that Blazer back. I know this is a very long shot, but I'm hoping that JUST MAYBE someone may know something about it.

Here's what I can tell you:

-It had a white hard top and the paint color was very close to the attached picture. There was no body molding on the side. There were imperfections from the cheap paint job (it was all a high school sophomore could afford) and there was damage done to the paint by some kids that had egged my rig.
-The bumpers were custom made by my Granddad and painted white, as were the rims.
-The interior had a very cheaply done spray in liner.
-The filler neck for the gas tank leaked into the rear of the cab.
-The Old Man sold it to some guy from Grass Valley, CA. I don't have a name or any other information.

I don't have a VIN, as my dad didn't hang on to any old registration paperwork. Granddad is trying his best to help me find it, so he is searching through all of his paperwork to see if he can find a VIN or something.

Like I said, I would give nearly ANYTHING to find this K5 again. If anyone could point me in another direction as to a better way for looking for this vehicle I'd greatly appreciate it.

I live in the grass valley area and if you could provide some more info, I could keep an eye out or ??? BUT I have not seen many K5s around the area. I have one in my driveway I am working on for a customer that is a green '72 and he is from Colfax

I live in Grass Valley also and I have not seen a blue K5 around. I will keep an eye out for one with custom front and rear bumbers. Have to agree with Kwmech there aren't many k5s running around here.
