Front end/door swap question
My driver's side window doesn't work too well, it's very difficult to roll up and fairly loose. I found a set of doors for $50 each that the guy claims have good windows. He also has a set of fenders that appear to be in good shape. Mine have some surface rust, nothing too serious though.
If I wanted to swap the fenders and doors, how much of a pain would it be? I don't need perfect gaps, just something functional. I'm not sure quite what sheet metal changed when. Can anyone tell me what year these are? I'd like to stick with the round headlights like are currently on my truck ('73). For the prices he wants, though, I might be interested in buying the fenders as well so they match the doors. The hood he has is worse than mine, so I'd rather keep my hood. Thanks for any advice.

Re: Front end/door swap question
The fender is a 73-80 so the doors should be since it came off the same truck. As long as you don't have power locks or windows its a easy bolt on but takes time to adjust the doors to shut and look right.Same thing with the fenders they bolt on just take time to adjust so the hood shuts right.

Re: Front end/door swap question
I read somewhere that the later setup saves weight. Is 81+ all the same for fenders/hood? Would it work with my core support, grill, headlights? How difficult would that be to swap?

Re: Front end/door swap question
I don't think the 81 on stuff will work with your core support since the headlights are different. If your looking to save weight fiberglass hood maybe aluminum heads and or intake.

Re: Front end/door swap question
The doors are slightly different size wise from 73-80 and 81-91 from what I have heard, but I don't have any experience with the interchange. 81+ fenders WILL NOT work with the 73-80 core support, cowl, and hood.
The parts your showing will work with your truck if its a 73-80. |

Re: Front end/door swap question
Can the new parts be made to work with my core support if I want to go that way? Or to rephrase it... what does it take to do it? I'm reasonable at fab work, just don't know how much is needed.

Re: Front end/door swap question
Unless your willing to make your own core support from scratch i doubt it will work.To do a front end swap i have been told its everything from the firewall forward needs to be swapped over.
