4wd question
Well I've actually driven my truck for the past four days- a record so far. I think I am starting to get the kinks out of it. I have noticed a new problem that I really haven't checked into yet, but i thought I would see in anyone else in the group has seen something similar. The truck seems to pop out of 4wd after I engage it. The manual says that this may indicate that the transfer case is worn. The truck does have automatic locking hubs. I've heard these can also be a problem. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

The truck is an 86 k10 1/2 ton. It has a 350 in it with a 700 R Transmission. I am not sure about the transfer case and axles. What's the best way to find that out?

Look on the transfer case you'll find a round metal sign that will probably say NP208. Also on the lid of the glove box you will find a sticker that has the axle ratios.

MIke the transfer case says 208C2 and the rear axle is 3.08.
