Drop spindle/caliper issues
This is my first post and man.... I have problems. Im in the process of installing some 2.5 " (1.00") CTS drop spindles that I purchased off ebay. When I installed the spindle and rotor, I noticed that the caliper would not bolt on correctly. After some trouble shooting, I just screwed in the caliper bolts with just the rotor on the spindle and the screws are rubbing the rotor? Has anyone had issues with the two threaded holes on the spindle being off?

Re: Drop spindle/caliper issues
It appears you either cross threaded the caliper bolt or the hole was tapped crooked by the manufacturer.

Re: Drop spindle/caliper issues
Take em to a machine shop along with your old set. They'll fill and re drill the holes. One of Mine was cross threaded. I think $45...

Re: Drop spindle/caliper issues
Contact the seller from eBay and ask them to make it right.

Re: Drop spindle/caliper issues
Thanks all for the feed back. I solved the problem with the misaligment, the brake line was against the upper control arm. I turn the line slightly. The spindles are casted with excess material causing the caliper to missalign. so out came the grinder, chased the threaded holes and boom... everything fit properly.
Next issue is after installing drop spindles with factory springs with 2 rounds cut out, the truck is in the weeds. |

With 2 rounds cut and drop spindles your tires must be hitting or even resting on the inner fenders as well as your lower control arms practically touching the ground.

Re: Drop spindle/caliper issues
Correct. That's the new issue. Originally, I was hoping to get enough drop without buying spindles. Now I need new springs.

Re: Drop spindle/caliper issues
Back in the day they used a 1/2" spacer and longer Aarm bolts to kick the top of the tire back out, The Drop Shop in LA dropped my 83 with this kit when going with 2 cut coils, still running this setup 32 years later

Re: Drop spindle/caliper issues
You might have issues getting the front end aligned with two coils cut.

Re: Drop spindle/caliper issues
No-name eBay stuff scares the crap out me, especially steering and brake parts that can kill you if they fail. Such is the case with cheap non-USA built steering columns and Pitman arms that have poor welds. Heck, some countries have outlawed the importation of certain Chinese car parts.
