Hehe, if I am right about the dimensions, I'm gonna be spending about 720 bucks in the near future...

$480 - DEH-P8500M Pioneer (Head unit)
$100 - TS-A4103 Pioneer (4 x 10 rear)
$80 - TS-A1357 Pioneer (5 1/4" front)

$660

710 with GST, approx.

I can get an 8" subwoofer and a cheap amp for about 20 bucks, or I can for the same subwooder and a 70 dollar amp....

Still like 800 bucks for everything, spicy stuff, lol

Don't get 4X10s. They sound like crap and always will because of their shape. Either get 6X9s (best sounding) or get a round speaker to fit back there. Besides, the 4X10s are really expensive for something that doesn't sound good. You can even leave them out if you have dash speakers since you have speakers in the door. I have Pioneer 3 1/2's or the dash and they sound good but I need to install a bass blocker for them to sound better!

Its the 4 x 10s that sound like crap right now, you figure I should just leave them and run off the two 5.25"? I am planning on building a custom box that has an 8" subwoofer in it, as well as two 6 x 9 speakers on either side (sealed inside so only the sub is airtight)

Hmm, iff I take off the 4 x 10s it brings it down to about 600 bucks... Thats getting closer into my price range... The sub and amp I am getting for 20 bucks (not the greatest sub or amp, but its all I need, I've installed the same amp and sub into two different trucks already, so I know they are good enough for me, the others are high bass lovers, and so they upgraded, I just want boom to my music, but I do want music, not just booming, lol)

I was saying instead of replacing the 4X10s, get rid of them and put in dash speakers. I got mine for $40.

I think your money would be better spent w/6*9's in front and back. Don't mean to step on anyone's toes but a blocker on the dash speakers also takes away a lot of power and you will get absolutly no midbass from them at all. Get a couple pairs of 6*9 a pair in the door and a pair in the cab corners.

I checked today, my guesses were good (amazing, lol) and found that if I tried really hard I could get a 6 x 9 in the dash, but not a chance that I could get it into the back or the doors without some serious modification...

I'll go with the 5.25 and the head unit for now, and start building my box for the 6 x 9s and 8" which I will buy when I finish the box and have enough money for the 6 x 9s

Those 3 1/2 don't produce any bass sound at all and since they are so small, they are basically big tweeters. You weren't stepping on any toes! Opinions is what makes this board so valuable.

6X9s in the dash don't sound like a good idea to me. They can handle alot of bass which means it is going to rattle everything in the dash if they are mounted up there.

You can have custom 6X9 boxes made for the corners for around $40-$80 depending on where you go or you can modify the existing brackets for $0. I think all you have to do is flip them.

I was bored and decided to completely rewire my whole sound system today, I decided to go with a bridged, mono channel running all the speakers, it make it a little more powerful as I ended up disconnecting one of the 4 x 10s becuase it distorted so bad... I found an old 6 x 9 lying around and temporarily hooked it up, wow, what a HUGE difference... Tommorow after I get home I will try to see if there is any way I can get my 6 x 9s in there... it will hold out until I can afford some new speakers...

I am buying a new head unit within the next couple of days that has a ton of power, 25 watts x 4 RMS, so it should be able to handle the 6 x 9s and the door speakers pretty nicely... Even with only one 4 x 10, the truck is producing pretty decent bass considering how crappy of a head unit and speakers that I have, lol

I got bored again and decided to install a couple of 6x9s in the back, I tried to see if I could get them into my brackets, but they wouldn't fit, so I spent 10 minutes and made a fantastically well crafted box for them, hehe, has nails and stuff sticking out all over the place, roftlol... if I carpet it, then it would look pretty good, but I'm not gonna expend the effort for something that is behind my seat anyways... I couldn't believe how much they help! Esspecially for crappy old speakers like that, lol! I found that if I turn it up loud, then it stops distorting, at least till you turn it too loud, then it really distorts, but I am happy with it for now, esspecially with such a crappy deck...
