Re: Parts Geek

I have never bought anything for our 60-66 trucks through parts geek, but I buy everything for all of mine and my families other cars. They are usually very competitive on price, and the parts seem to be good quality and it arrives when it is supposed too.

Re: Parts Geek

Hey Randy, I think the bottom line with the reproduction fenders is you're going to spend $500 bucks (with shipping) just to be disappointed. If I had it to do all over again I'd repair my old OEM fenders with these American made patch panels. http://www.autobodyspecialt.com/cgi-...&category=0123 My K10 will be a work truck so I'm Okay (well kinda) with the crappy fit.

WOW that's off a lot I bet you were disappointed, Did you pre-check the fit before painting, or paint then discover that it didn't fit... I had to adjust my rockers when I got them.... I guess I was looking for an easy way out than to cut and patch everything but I may have to......BTW I like your truck..

Re: Parts Geek

Randy-- mine on the drivers side also was off some, not as bad as bhc's. In my case the rad support was part of the problem. I was able to pull the rad support back in line. I had to cut my pass fender at the rear support and re-weld it. I had 2 different brands of fenders (the name on the boxes were different) Wish you were closer as i have 4 fenders that can be fixed. I stared to fix one and then decided to go the new repo's. If you do fix yours and the bottom of the rear support is rusty don't try to replace the whole support. cut just the bottom off and weld the new support piece back on.

Re: Parts Geek

61K10 thanks for the heads up on fenders, Yea I wish I did live closer. I prolly will repair mine as it will save me a few Hundred. Might have to rename my truck to PATCHES.. I'm sure there are people closer to you that prolly could use some fenders.. Hate to here all the issues your having with your truck.. I haven't really driven mine other than a little test drive, so I hope once I get it on the road that I don't have the issues your having..
But that's in the FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRR future... I'm afraid...

Re: Parts Geek

You will always have some small problems after a complete rebuild. Like i said in my build every time i try to save some $$$ I end up doing things twice. I should have rebuilt my trans as everything else was. good luck on your fenders.

Re: Parts Geek

I found the best way was to find a good parts truck or just look for OEM parts. The black fenders on my 66 came off my 64 and will need a bit of mods to line the bolt holes up....and a small patch for each and I'm done...and it won't cost $500 to do that either. lol $500 towards nitrous!

Re: Parts Geek

Randy, I did mine with the patch replacement system. I'll have to let you know how the linement fits. Just cut and weld. By the measurement it should line back up..

Re: Parts Geek

Oh, yeah.. The patches came from Top Bananna. The thickness and form was spot on. But if you order from them don't expect confirmation or tracking #'s. Just be patient and they'll arrive somehow...

Re: Parts Geek

Good job Mitch---Randy--see how Mitch did the inner brace, thats what i was trying to say. the top part of the brace really doesn't want to come off easy and usually in good shape. to many spot welds around the top.
