Talking about paint scheme? I want period correct
Ok this isnt happening tomorrow and who knows when but I want to get it in my head how I will finish my truck someday.
72 K10 long bed in my sig My thought is original 525 yellow with a white cab and just the upper belt molding. I beleive this is a correct configuration for 72s please correct me if I Am wrong Also if I add the upper belt molding would it have had any trim on the tailgate or around the tail lights? |

I am going to look at a truck identical to yours. It is just all 525 yellow. It does have the top row of molding though.

Re: Talking about paint scheme? I want period correct
We did this all before for you. So review these links and post up any additional questions raised or points needing clarification.
But based on what you just wrote here a white cab roof (conventional two-tone) on a 525 yellow truck is correct and a stand alone option. However it included the divider molding (D99) from the factory. If you wish to also add the belt/upper body side molding (B85) you can, its completely independent of the Conventional Two-Tone paint scheme. Re: Talking about paint scheme? I want period correct
Found some pictures, while sorting, of a code 545 (525 Light Yellow Conventional Two-Tone) truck with the B85 belt molding option. While not the best of angles it gives a pretty good idea of how it would look and the correct molding usage out back.
Remember the windshield and vent window chrome were premium trim items and not part of any molding or paint option.

Re: Talking about paint scheme? I want period correct
Sounds like my favorite, 519 Dark Yellow. With a 618 orange plaid it would look great.

Re: Talking about paint scheme? I want period correct
Code 522 Copper Poly aka "Medium Bronze" or code 528 Dark Bronze Poly would be correct for a 70 Chevy or GMC (both shown below). The paint ref site seems to have issues with GMC truck usage.

Re: Talking about paint scheme? I want period correct
Mine was the same as the one on top you listed only no white on bottom and a half ton short bed golly I wish I still had that rig stupid teenager had to have a 4x4
Anyway this may sound half crazy but we have had our hands on a few of these trucks in that color or similar copper and they all seem to have much less rust if any in them. Something special about. That paint maybe? |
