Sealing Wheel Tubs?
I removed the wheel tubs off my 66 to get the bed ready for new wood, etc and I was NOT surprised to see rust in between where the tubs 'mate' up to the bed sides. I can imagine there is plenty of opportunity for water/moisture to accumulate in that crevice and create rust/damage.
Has anyone tried any type of sealant in that area with much success? The current thread on "Best Seam Sealer" got me thinking that maybe this would be an option?

Re: Sealing Wheel Tubs?
Generally I only use liquid (caulk) seam sealer on things like welded in panels, since it can be "smushed" into uneven areas etc.
For everything else (chafe areas, fenders that might be removed again, behind metal door cards) I use something called 3m Seam Sealer TAPE. IT comes in a variety of sizes, and does not hold moisture (Which fender welting will do). You put it on the contact surface like thick tape, then attach the fender. It will squeeze the tape thicnkess flatter to let the panel fit well, and still contour the uneven surfaces to make a seal. 3/8" stuff is 3m Part# 08475 napa# r981970
