4x4 rear axle in 2wd?
I found a good deal on a 3.73 posi rear end out of a 1980 1/2 ton I really want that rear gear set in my 1984 1/2 ton I know the 4x4 is 6 lug instead of a 5 lug. Is there an easy way to make 4x4 axle 5 lug? Or could I just take the gear set from the 4x4 diff and put it in my 2wd housing?

With those years, I'm thinking both axles are 10 bolts, correct? Round diff cover?

If they are both 12 bolts you can just switch the axles. If they are 10 bolts it is the same deal. If one is a 12 bolt and one is a 10 bolt you are out of luck
