I bought Hollywood Sams part truck

I have been checking out this site for 5 years ,it,s my time to put my truck together I could not have done it without every members help I thank you.
I have the a long box stepside. the last pictures are from when I first saw it parked as a sign truck on Gratiot Ave. Detroit. It sat there for six years before I saved it. The beast is called Hollywood Sam, it used to be the parts truck for Hollywood Sams performance shop on Grand Blvd.

Re: I bought Hollywood Sams part truck

I was driving up Gratiot Ave to visit my step daughter when I saw the truck .I passed it too many times to just see it sit there. When I finally picked it up to bring over to Canada the tow truck driver thought he had seen it back in the day racing the quarter mile sure enough his brother confirmed it was the same truck .They both remember seeing it race and hanging out at the white castle ,they are going to help rebuild the truck in their shop

The chrome look is from chrome tape that some one put on the support

Re: I bought Hollywood Sams part truck

I knew Hollywood well , he was a regular customer .. I know his brother had the task of disposing of his Grand River establishment .. if you ever saw the inside it would blow your mind that anyone could work out of that place .. Actually Sam did most of his builds on the sidewalk .... I was the only one to see the rear of the shop in probably 5 years .. No one had been in there in that long ...

Re: I bought Hollywood Sams part truck

I have a few more photos somewhere of his old suburban ,it was shoved full of parts and stuff and his 2 boys would ride with him in litle spaces just big enough for them to fit , other than that the burb was void of any other space for humans , and sometimes parts .. many times he would open the back bock doors and stuff would cascade out ....He was quite a character ...........

Re: I bought Hollywood Sams part truck

No, Ex was from Sandusky area and had relatives in Sterling Heights and Hamtramck. Her brother was really into cars and remember going with him once to Hollywood's when we were there visiting. Can't remember which location he was in then. Mid 70s. Couple more pics I googled.

Re: I bought Hollywood Sams part truck

You sure it's a 9' and not an 8'? (All 9' trucks will also be one ton/30 series with a 133" wheelbase.)
