LS swap fuel system
I have a 1983 c10 that I'm putting a 99 LQ4 6.0 in. I've got a tank and sending unit from a 87, and a fuel pump for a 98. The fuel pump has two hoses with it. I know the the 3/8 line is the supply but what is the small one it's maybe 1/8? Do I leave the line off or put it on somewhere?

Re: LS swap fuel system
It sound like that 1/4 is the vapor line. I used the 87 sender and I had pressure and return as well as the vapor line. Look in my ls swap link I have the pic of my 87 tank set up going into my 76 that may help.

Re: LS swap fuel system
I was thinking it was the vent line but the sending unit I've got doesn't have a spot for it. The sending units vent line is made different.

Re: LS swap fuel system
How about a picture? If its an 87 TBI sending unit, it will have 3 pipes. Supply, return and vapor vent.
FG05M (driver) and FG05N (passenger) for spectra premium brand parts.

Re: LS swap fuel system
yeah that's how the top of mine looks also, the issue is the underside. The in tank pump has two lines I know the one is supply but there is also a small line about 1/8". that's the one that I don't have a connection point for on the sending unit. can't get pictures to load, will try again later

Re: LS swap fuel system
You will most likely need to run a new return line. The feed is 3/8, return is 5/16, and vapor is 1/4. You could hook the vent to the smaller line, or run a vapor vent at the top also. The run is relatively small and straight; running new hard lines is pretty easy.

Re: LS swap fuel system
is this what yours looks like? Its an '87 sender with a fuel pump, only one line out of pump.

Re: LS swap fuel system
I know see what you mean. I think that the extra hose is part of the '98 set up and may be the source of confusion. I would guess that the little hose is some sort of return line that the '98 set up uses.
My pump is out of a recalled ford product that was new and being thrown out. The 'goldish' piece on the sender body looks to me like a vapor separator of some sort.
