Fuel Gauge Issues?
Hey guys, this is my first post but I have a 1974 c10 with a 350/350. I am having issues with the fuel gauge, and I noticed it has no wires or anything behind it. There's supposed to be wiring of some sort there, correct? Anyways thank you in advance.

Re: Fuel Gauge Issues?
You are correct, the wiring is in the form of a curcuit board that the fuel guage plugs into. A wiring harness connector plugs into the curcuit board from the front of the insturment panel. What sort of issues are you having?

Re: Fuel Gauge Issues?
The fuel gauge just seems to flop around when I drive, it'll just kind of move in whatever direction the cars moving haha it's got a printed circuit board but nothing else, and it looks like nothing really is holding it so I don't think it's being powered

Re: Fuel Gauge Issues?
I sounds like the fuel gauge might be faulty. Do you have any other gauge problems? Do the dash lights work? If it were a sending unit or wiring problem I don't think it would just flop around. Have you had the guage itself out?

Re: Fuel Gauge Issues?
The swinging needle can be a loose instrument cluster ground or cluster power splice.
If you search around the board you'll find pictures posted by Motornut that show the Instrument Cluster harness wire tape unwound to expose the splices.

Re: Fuel Gauge Issues?
Yes sometimes the plug or board gets loose.
sometimes the path on the board lifts off the mylar plastic but the joins are about a foot from the plug
