TH400 / TH700R4 conversion question
Hi Guys ,
question : will the sliding part of the drive shaft coming out of a TH700R4 fit on a TH400 ? . I began yesterday to pull the engine/tranny combo ( 6.2 Diesel/TH700 ) out of the Burb I bought , to be replaced by a Olds 350/TH400 combo , coming from my truck... I have a two pieces drive shaft on the truck , with a sliding part between the two pieces , does the first part of that drive shaft also slide in the tranny Thanks , The Baron |

Afraid not. The TH350 and TH700r4 have the same spline out of the tranny but the TH400 is different. If you can find a TH350 or TH700r4 equipped truck you can use the driveshaft end then. On some models the whole driveshaft will interchange with no shortening of it since the 700r4 is longer.

The TH400 has a 31 spline output shaft compared to the 27 spline shaft on the TH350.

Thanks Guys ,
I think the better option right now is to dismantle both pieces and check them... In the worst case , I will have to use the TH400 yoke and adapt the Burb drive shaft , no big deal. I'm just worried about the two trannies lengths , I hope I won't have to shorten that drive shaft... We'll see , I'll take some pic's next week and post them here have a nice weekend The Baron |
