Went Junkyarding Today

After a dentist and eye doctor appointment this morning my wife and I went cruisin in her 72 Malibu convertible and just happened to stop by a junkyard I had wanted to check out .Found 2 old squares in there ,the 73 has a nice grill and a folding bench seat (been looking for that) ,the other one (a 77) has a good tailgate (fleetside) but I dont need it .The seat is $75 and the grill is $40 ,the tailgate is $75 .Im thinking about going back tomorrow for the seat and grill ,are they priced about right ?

Re: Went Junkyarding Today

Those would be Phoenix prices. Tucson prices would be about $25 less all around.

Depends on how nice they are and how bad you need them......sometimes you save money on the next deal to make up for the previous one........

Re: Went Junkyarding Today

There is a pick and pull about 30 mi from me. They have 5 squarebodys. 2 83 long beds 2 86 long beds and a 86 suburban. I have taken parts off all 5. I love going to junk yards and looking around. There is also a huge salvage yard not far from me with over 3000 vehicles, but its not a pick and pull. I did get to ride with a employee in the back to look for a steering wheel and I counted atleast 15 squarebodys.

Prices depend where you live and what shape the parts are in.Most yards i have been to if they don't know you the prices are high ,Once they get to know you they lower the prices to get you to keep coming back.

Re: Went Junkyarding Today

I really only need the seat ,have an extra grill already and the tailgate would have been wall art but I need to save as much cash as I can right now as we will be going on vacation soon driving my wife's 72 Malibu convertible cross country again .

Re: Went Junkyarding Today

I have around 100+ trucks. 64-90's. When I sell parts, I try to get a decent price.

If sell to low. I can't buy more trucks.

If I cant buy them, China gets them around here.
