Spare tire mount on 1979 GMC 35 Crew Dually

Can anyone tell me where I am supposed to mount the spare tire on my truck? For some reason I thought I saw one mounted underneath the rear of the bed between the frame rails. It is a 16" dually rim and tire. It was mounted by the PO on the front of the truck, but there is no way it fits in my garage with it up front. I want to keep the bed clear for hauling wood and I also want to install a receiver hitch class III. Any thoughts? Here are some pictures of my stuff.

The factory spare tire mount is under the rear. That is how my 78 K30 was, though I removed the spare tire.

I mounted my spare with the outside face facing down, so I could access the tire valve to check the air pressure. Mine is a C20 but I don't see why it would not work with a C30. I moved my pivot bolt ahead about 1.5" so the tire would clear the trailer hitch.

Thanks for the replies. Any chance someone has a picture of what this all looks like? I am wondering if I have to buy the hardware and have all the necessary framework in place to just bolt my spare in. Thanks again for the help.

LMC has a good diagram in their catalog online. I think you should already have the top cross rail as I think they come stock from the factory that way. Likely a local junkyard or CL will have the remaining parts. Glide out (slide out) carrier is the best but harder to find than an ivory billed woodpecker.

BTW, I spent my last year at UM A2 living in your neighborhood - Briggs Lake. Nice country to visit.
