Dropping An old Oldsmobile 403 into a 1989 chevy blazer?

Could it be done? Its got a 700r4 tranny 4x4

Sure, but you'll need an adapter for the bell housing. I don't think there was ever a BOP 700r4 for you to swap tailshafts.

350 Diesels in the 80's trucks were converted 350 Olds Gas motors.....

actually out west here the default swap changing out the 350 diesels was the Olds 403. the 403 shared the same deck height as the diesel so even the exhaust bolted right up

Incorrect. 350 diesel blocks are completely different internally. Heads are completely different. Intake manifold is completely different.

That said, the exhaust manifolds and engine mounts will work with the 403. if you can find a 78-81 chevy truck that still has the diesel in it (good luck) everything you need for the swap will be there.

I think he meant swapped over to Olds 350 gas engines.

believe it or not i actually see a few of the 6.2s round here in utah

Not to argue... but many 350 Deisels just had the heads and intake swapped to gas heads (Requires drilling out head bolts, as deisels had larger bolts) intake and distributor.... Presto, you have a gas burner. thick head gaskets helped knock down compression, gear to drive vacuum pump was same as distributor gear..... Lots of power, solid bottom end and roller cam

A ton of them got swapped in central cal if they hadn't blow up 1st.
A some where resurrected with gas parts after they blew up.
