Will a 67-72 Chevy truck steering column shaft in 66' Column and accept the 66' steering wheel?
Thanks, Matt

I put a 67 shaft in a 66 column. In 68 they might have changed something. Does a 68 still have the spring at the bottom of the column?

Yes the 66 wheel goes on a 67 shaft.

Re: 67-72 steering column shaft in 66' Column
I used a '68 shaft in a '65 column, worked great. I wanted to have the capability of having a collapsible steering shaft in a collision, so I used the intermediate shaft from my '79 donor truck. I cut off the factory encased u-joint from the intermediate and bought a 3/4 D-D to 36 spline u-joint from Flaming River. I had to shorten the shaft slightly in order for it to mate up with the steering box ('79 half-ton, power box). To shorten it, I drilled through the plastic shear rivets and then using a mini-sledge and a 4x4 block, I compressed the shaft to get it to the length I needed.
