09 Yukon
I am looking at an 09 GMC Yukon 4wd for the wife. It has good options. It has listed "shiftable automatic" trans. I see it has a + and - on the shift lever.
What trans is this and what does this on the shifter do? Any quirks to be aware of with the 09's? Hp? MPG? What denotes that 4 to 8 cylinder derate deal? The dealers don't always list every option on the window sheets of used vehicles and sometimes they are wrong in their ads too.

Re: 09 Yukon
6L80E 6 speed. You can put the Shifter in "M" & Tap shift the Trans.
Got the 8th digit of the VIN? |

Re: 09 Yukon
No sorry I don't have the vin. I am pleased to see it doesn't have that electronic control rear suspension thing though.
I also stopped to look at a Tahoe and as soon as I saw it had that option I turned around and left.

Re: 09 Yukon
That decodes to RPO LMG.
5.3, flex fuel, iron block, cylinder deactivation. That should answer your question about 8 cyl to 4 cyl. Some have oil consumption issues. Some people will get a tune to keep it from going to 4 cyl mode. |

Re: 09 Yukon
You can put it in "M" And Tap Shift up to 5th, This will lock out 6th gear & Keep the engine from dropping cylinders.

Re: 09 Yukon
Yeah, I was afraid of that. It looks like we're going to get more serious about it. It's a real nice Yukon.
I'm afraid to ask but. Do these trans hold up well?
