Engine Room Help, What can I Remove?

So I'm in the process of putting on new headers, new carburetor, valve covers, wires & plugs. The one thing I hate is these vac lines laying across the valve covers. Can I remove all this or relocate somehow?

I don't even know what half of that crap is. I have manifold vacuum to: 1) PCV valve from the center port of the Edelbrock to a PCV valve on the driver's side -- that has to stay; 2) from the back side of the intake manifold to the TH350 -- that has to stay; 3) from the back side of the intake manifold to the power brake booster -- that has to stay; 4) from the driver side front of the Edelbrock to the distributor vacuum can -- that has to stay; and 5) a T in number 4 to the thermac to run the air door -- that has to stay.

All the rest of that, including the evap canister can go, but you need more info from someone else on what to do once you take it off.

BTW, there should not be anything connected to the ported vacuum on the Edelbrock, the passenger side port on the front. That's wrong.

Rich, you just live over in Indiana. Maybe you can give me a hand and teach me thing or two about engines. I have to admit, I really don't know a whole lot, but I want to learn.

One thing you didn't do is identify make, model, year, engine of our truck.

That's the vapor canister. People remove it all of the time, though it doesn't really do much of anything except keep gas fumes from going directly into the atmosphere. It's not hooked up correctly in your pictures anyway. The vent line from the canister that connects back to the tank should go to the carb vent line, the rest simply eliminated. I can't remember if the Edlebrock has a vent line, if not, just run a vent tube up the fender and put a vent cap on it (not a plug).

Ok, so this is what I came up with. It doesn't seem to be causing any issue, just idleling. So let me know if everything looks like it is hooked up right. I left the fuel vacuum hooked up to the vapor canister, everything else I took off and capped.

I also put new plugs & wires with wire loom in. New headers & valve covers.

Vacuum advance is still on the wrong vacuum port on the front of the Edelbrock. Should be connected to driver's side port, and passenger's side port plugged off.

First thing I would remove is the fuel line setup. Use a steel line between the fuel pump and carb. Reason being is that if hose either gets rubbed or deteriorates, it will spray fuel.

That line goes to the EGR valve, is that correct? The EGR valve is back by the distributor?

I will as soon as I get the new carb in. That's my next project. Just waiting on a few parts to be delivered.

Rich I'm sorry if I'm asking dumb questions, but I'm still learning. What is the round metal part in this photo that the 3/8" hose is connected to. I don't what it is or what its for. It had all the vapor canister lines going in and out of it.

That line should go to the vacuum advance can on the distributor, but the VA connection belongs on the other side of the carb.

Is this what your calling the vacuum advance? So this line goes to the drivers side port on the carb?
