Interior pictures? Looks like a great truck. I didn't actually know they were made in manual versions by that point.

I had a SM465 in a `86 K5 Jimmy and wish I'd kept that truck.

Re: 79 c30 quad cab project
Wow, and again I know nothing about trucks apparently.
That's a heck of a transmission for those trucks, too(thought they were reserved for medium duty trucks). Also a little surprised they didn't have an overdrive in the 1991 3500. Last edited by jumpsoffrock; 08-18-2015 at 02:20 PM. |

Re: 79 c30 quad cab project
Before going through all the trouble of a NV 4500 swap, try Taller Tires on the rear. I did that on my pick-up and it worked pretty good. I still wouldn't want to run the interstate all day with it, but I was satisfied with the difference.

Re: 79 c30 quad cab project
I'm laughing at myself. I saw the quad cab title and expected to see 8 doors! I call crewcabs double cabs because they are double what a regular cab is, two seats instead of one or four doors instead of two. By the responses, I guess no one else thinks that way

Re: 79 c30 quad cab project
I believe those trucks are also known as 3 X 3's. There is usually a 3 X 3 Emblem on the side of the cab. For many years I never knew what it meant, but finally found a few years ago: 3 in the Front and 3 in the Back.

Re: 79 c30 quad cab project
Manual on the floor would bring riding ***** to a new level in the front.
Is there any market for those old bench seats in excellent condition? The one in my C65 is pristine. I'm thinking it'll end up in the hunting lounge unless someone wants it for their resto. |
