Stupid ignition switch question
I'm swapping the steering column in my 1986 C10, the previous owner swapped in a 1992 Tilt-Column from a stick, but I'm going back to an original non-tilt automatic column since I'm converting to a TH400 transmission.
My question is, since my new column doesn't have an ignition switch mounted on the end of the column, can I use the one from the 1992 column?

Re: Stupid ignition switch question
No, the ignition switches are different for tilt vs. non-tilt columns.
They both look very similar and use the same electrical connectors but the rod that connects up to the lock cylinder moves in opposite directions. If I remember correctly, the rod in the non-tilt column pushes down (while the rod in the tilt column pulls upward) as the key is rotated forward into the start position. |
