22" Gm Transport wheels

Hi all.
I want to put a set of the gm transport wheels on my truck, but I know the rear hub is bigger on my 63 half ton than the newer models the wheels are made for. I was just thinking of changing the rear end, but which year did they switch to the smaller hub? Does the 67-72 have the smaller hub?
Any advice would be cool.
I'm doing a 5-6 drop from CPP with the brake conversion and the 22" GMs were the plan.

The only thing I recall reading about those wheels is that they are property of GM and not to be resold...

I don't think they changed the hub size until the early 2000's.

Could just use a 1/4" spacer.

it changed in 88 for 6 lug trucks, the centerbore got smaller.

best method is to have a machine shop open up the centerbore, but that costs a bit and defeats the purpose of having the inexpensive transport wheels. 1/4" spacers will fix you up as said, for just the rear. the front would need bored out or pretty thick spacers to clear the bearing hats.

Here is a link I found for bolt patterns. I think that the Transport Wheels use the 6X5.5 Pattern.

Out of curiosity, could you just do an axle swap from one of the newer Suburban/Avalanche 2WD Yukon & Xl/Denali 2WD Blazer/Tahoe/Escalade?

I apologize in advance if this is a poor question.

One other thing I noticed is this sticker on the wheel that says that it is not intended for extended use, which is a little worrying. What are these things intended for anyway?

Just like what their called Transport Wheels, most cars and trucks are shipped by rail cars and go thru sand storms, harsh winter conditions and so forth. Those wheels are installed to save the aluminum wheels from those conditions where ever they are stored before moving to the dealerships.

I have 4 wheel disc brakes, on the front they fit perfect and a 1/4" spacer on the back. Thanks

I have a C20. What swap would be necessary to adapt to a 6x5.5 Pattern? My current setup is the stock 8x6.5.

So to let you guys know about the GM transport wheels. I work in the Service side of the local GMC dealership here in my city an we get quite a few trucks in with these wheels. Most of the time the trucks (or Yukons/suburbans/tahoes) get these wheels put on them due to rail theft of the rims from the factory which frankly happens a bit with the half-ton crew cab short bed trucks that are built in Silao, Mexico. Suvs are built in Arlington, TX an the 3/4-1ton trucks an single cab trucks are built in flint.

Some Suvs gets the transports but they put them on became from the factory these things don't have the lug nut locks on them so they ship the rims separate when the customer has bought the special rims.

You can go to your local gm dealership parts department an ask them to sell you a set. They all have a core price of like a grand I think? That's with wheels an tires but you just gotta ask. Just thought I'd help you guys out because these are getting pretty popular I can tell.

Buy 1" spacers. 1/4 inch might be too small for rear and 1/2 might be too big to make em work with the stock studs at least that was my situation last week so I ended up going with one inch spacers from summit here check it out!

hey ghernandez - i'm confused on what size spacer you used on the rear.

you say buy 1", but also say 1/2" might be too big.

can you straighten me out and tell me what size spacer is used on the truck in your photo?

did it clear the wheel tubs in the rear with this size?

I got 1" spacers on the truck in the picture I bought em of summit racing
part #TGI-14001-1-KIT they say they're for Toyota but the ones for Chevrolet the center bore is still to small for the drum to fit..
In my truck it won't clear the tubs and that's because of the height I wouldn't be able to go that low with them on also remember my truck is bagged ..

What is done to your truck to lay that low on these??? I am debating 20's but don't want to modify a bunch of of stuff!

Its bagged of course. also has 2" drop spindles in the front and 2" lowering block with a c notch.
now if you cup your lower control arms you can go a bit lower check this out this is recen picture.

you are correct no inner fenders and also I removed all the bed wood since it was all rotten I only have plywoood holding it for now.
Theres 2 options you can raise the whole floor and end up with a 12" bed or you can do what Im going to do Just let the notch stick up and cover it with some wood make it look like the rest of the bed with strips once its done.
