Front Ride Height from Gen 3 Camaro Swap in '55
Hey guys I need some good help and insight from you. I am debating on putting a front crossmember, hub to hub, into my '55 2nd series from a '92 Camaro RS. I am concerned about the ride height after said installation.
What will this swap do to the ride height and will I be able to lower or raise it after I have it installed? Also as a side note I am going to put the 10 bolt rear end under my pickup as well. |

That's a MacPherson strut front end?? Not really a good candidate for a swap into a truck. You'll notice you don't see much about guys using this front for anything. Try a Gen2, 70-81 Camaro/Firebird. If not that them look at the many and varied Mustang II crossmember swaps.

Not sure on the McPherson but I will assume so. I guess the reason I had considered it was cause someone else had recommended it or I read it on another forum.
I had figured a Mustang II would probably be the best but they are also pricey. I can get an entire Camaro RS for $200 that comes with everything I'd need. |

The last Camaro with a removable subframe with coil springs was 1981. 82 went to the strut suspenson.
Good post there Hussey, we need to save the link to this thread for the next time the question gets asked. Dag19 take a look at the crossmember that Steve at Industrial Chassis puts out for your truck. It uses all Dodge Dakota pieces and the crossmember isn't that spendy compared to a lot of offerings. http://www.industrialchassisinc.com/

A bit off topic here but these photos of the fabricated way of picking up the MacPherson strut upper mount reminds me of a long ago post (can't remember from whom, of course) who fabricated an ingenious way to relocate the EXACT way to remount the front clip on a TF after grafting in an earlier Camaro's subframe.
He used angles or flat bar (I think) and after the graft he remounted the front body clip and it went back exactly as it had been mounted before the frame graft without adjustment or modifications - impressive. Anyone remember that thread/have a link to the photo?
