lower steering column bearing

Working on replacing the bearing and I have the lower shaft out and the inner part of the bearing is stuck on the upper shaft and not sure how to get it off of there, I tried to pry it off with a screw driver and it won't move. Any thoughts?

If you have a Dremel with a cutoff wheel, or any grinder and cutoff wheel. Use the cutoff wheel to slice the race almost all the way to the shaft, then wedge a chisel into the slot and hit it with a hammer. This will split the race and relieve enough pressure that it should slip right off the shaft.

Here's a link to a video that I found describing what I'm talking about. I've rarely had to cut both sides but it will give you a general idea.
