Re: useless information
I could use those on my Tahoe for the broken motor mounts.

Re: useless information
The first time you have a broken motor mount and your motor cranks up on a 45 degree angle and your motor goes full throttle, then you'll wish you had one of those.
The rod link was changed to a cable because of motor mounts that weren't designed to stay together when the rubber deteriorated. Anybody who has a rod linkage should install one. |

Re: useless information
Unless you have very old /early mounts then you dont need this as the newer/replacment mounts are inter locking

Re: useless information
This was actually a "fix" in the 60s and early 70s from parts stores and GM mostly for high performance 327 engines that continually breaking mounts.

Re: useless information
I had a MM let loose on my 64 Impala SS when I was 18. Let me tell you, when that engine wrapped up the carb linkage and got that car into the secondaries without warning it was no joke! The one and only time it happened to me, I had to drive around a cop to keep from rear ending him. He eventually caught up after I had shut the ignition down. Gave me a ticket for 60 in a 25. Guy was gonna lock me up. Didn't believe me when I told him what I thought had happened.

Re: useless information
On all our cars and trucks we would just use a piece of chain from the frame to keep them in. The old motor mounts would snap at the worst times. I remember when TRW came out with the interlocking mounts. They were hot sellers at the time.

Re: useless information
I don't think they were more than about $8 or $9 at the time. But when you made $2.25 an hour they were a little high.
