Ls swap guys help!
Ok so I'm in the process of putting in a 5.3 and 4l60e with the entire cpp swap kit. Well motor and tranny are in and I am trying to bolt tranny crossmember to tranny. When I measure across frame rails the transmission is 1/2" off to the passenger side. Is this normal or don't I need it dead center? I've tried moving over and it's not budging , please any advice is thankful

Are both motor mounts bolted onto the motor? BTDT, my transmission mount was also offset when I had only one side of the motor mount bolted in place. When I got the other side bolted the transmission lined up right in the center.

Re: Ls swap guys help!
I put a LS in a Nova.
My trans was off to the drivers side, but by the time I got things buttoned up and bolted down, it was maybe 1/8" off. I was able to push the trans into place and put the bolts in. Between the bolt holes on on the trans and the holes on the mount, there is a lot of wiggle room. |

Re: Ls swap guys help!
yes both mounts are bolted to motor and evenly slid back as far as possible, I can get it close to center but then one motor mount is 3/8 further back than the other. I just don't want my driveshaft off balance

Re: Ls swap guys help!
My motors has a little "hip lean" to the left if you stare at it from dead level. Most do.
FWIW, our entire frames are up to 1/2" off square sometimes more....old tolerances + lord knows how many fender benders and fixes. Some guys frames are WAY off. There is a cross brace in the rear under the bed on the 64-66's that is 1/2" off on EVERY one I've ever seen.
