Re: new to the forum need help

I think you need to get those fixed. And start from scratch.

Re: new to the forum need help

I agree that welding up all those holes an grinding smooth would be the best place to start. As for the position of the '67-'72 small block engine mount brackets, that will be determined partly by the trans being used. If you are keeping the manual trans along with the crossmember mounted bellhousing, that will determine the location of the engine. If you are going with an auto trans, you want the engine as far back as possible for weight distribution but still have firewall clearance for the distributor and valve covers.

Hi, Jose and welcome to the forum(looks like you just joined this month)! Just another member here agreeing with welding up and grinding/sanding smoothly those existing, ratty holes where you can start from fresh. Following CaptainFab's directions should put that engine in its best position and minimize any unwanted side effects likely to arise in the future.

Good luck with your project and feel free to enjoy many already-solved--and already written solutions to--problems you are likely to run into. Also, any new problems can often be solved by the vast knowledge of the members here. *I seldom have to call up local friendly mechanics and waste their time. On the contrary, I can often offer them workable solutions to some of their problems.

Re: new to the forum need help

I assume you are fabbing your own trans crossmember? Just be sure to get your trans output shaft parallel to the pinion.
