carrier bearing
Could someone tell me what is missing from the bearing? Is it in the correct location and missing a seal, or has it slipped back out of place? I have one in my other truck, but it does resemble this one.
Thanks

Re: carrier bearing
That carrier bearing assembly is a clam shell you can replace just the bearing without replacing the housing.
I cant tell from the picture if the bearing is bad or not. |

Re: carrier bearing
Thanks. It is not loose, and no vibrations or anything. I was greasing the truck and noticed it.

Re: carrier bearing
Looks good from here. The stub is splined all of the way to the carrier. Newer slip and stub setups are just splined inside the slip yoke.

Re: carrier bearing
The gap in between the bearing and I guess a cover, shield ,is what I did not think looks normal. That cover or dust shield does not appear to move though. Thanks

Re: carrier bearing
The dust shield for the bearing is optional and appears to be properly secured.

Re: carrier bearing
I just looked at mine this weekend also. Looks exactly the same as the picture. I couldn't detect any slop or play, but am surprised there is no way to lube it. BTW mine is a 3/4 ton 350/auto custom camper.
