Sold half my truck. Help me plan my new build.

Yesterday was more painful than I thought it would be. I loaded up my K20 frame, axles, motor and trans on a trailer to its new home. I'm going back to the roots with this truck. I decided the 4x4 is not what I want with all the highway driving I need to do. I've pulled out my 2wd frame and started pressure washing it and planning parts.

Here's what I have:

- complete 69/70 body and fleetside bed.
- 70 LWB 2wd coil frame converted to disks in the front
- open 3.08 GM 12-bolt missing it's brake hardware
- flawless late-model SM465 2wd trans
- Megasquirt MS-II that I was going to use to do a TBI conversion on the 383.
- $3500 cash to finish the truck

I'm thinking a 5.3 swap mated to the sm465 and controlled by the MS-II (in bank fire for now). I also need to redo my brake lines (I can't believe I used to drive it like that), fix my leaky power steering gearbox, and either do a disk brake conversion on the rear, or find some brake hardware. I'm trying to get this project on the road as soon as possible, AND trying to keep the budget around $3500.

Good luck with the project! It's not often you see a 4x4 to 2WD conversion (it's usually the other way around!)
