Hood scoop??
Seen a few 67-72 trucks with a hood scoop. I know one advantage is more air which equals more power. Any comments or pics?

Not "more air" necessarily; "cooler air" = denser air/fuel charge = more power.
Forward facing scoops can be problematic on a daily driver, since they also can allow water to enter the engine unless precautions are taken. K

I read a study years and years ago about Ram-air verse cowl induction. The gist of the study is that the main advantage to both systems is cooler air charge. Ram-air has the disadvantage of water (rain) ingestion issues. However, Ram-air is distinctly advantageous (air pressure) above 140 mph.
So, what does this ultimately mean for us with old trucks? Very few of us spend the time fabricating a functional system so go with the one you like the looks of best. Just make sure you are not forcing water into the engine. Also, how many of us have a truck that will exceed 140mph safely and how often does that happen? In the end, go with the one that YOU think looks best on YOUR truck

Unless the incoming cooler air is channeled directly to the carb and kept away from engine heat... a hood scoop does nothing but add something for the eye to see.
