DBW harness on a DBC 5.3

Hey Guys,

Got a question for ya. I am buying a 1999 5.3/4l60E combo (DBC) but the harness is all cut apart from the yard pulling the engine. They said they have a 2003 5.3 with unknown miles still in the truck but it is a DBW set up that I can pull out for an extra $50 with the computer, pedal, and fuse box.

My question is, would I be able to use the DBW harness and computer to convert to a stand alone harness for the DBC? Or would I be able to buy the throttle body from the 2003 DBW and replace the DBC on my engine and then be able to use the DBW harness? Thanks in advance!

Re: DBW harness on a DBC 5.3

You can do it either way. To use the DBW harness with DBC you just have to change the throttle body wiring with TPS and IAC plugs and wiring. If you decide to go DBW, make sure you get the TAC module and the wiring between it and the pedal. Also, the intakes are slightly different in where the PCV tube mounts, DBC it's on the throttle body and the '03 and newer DBW its on the intake, so if you use the '03 TB on the '99 intake, you won't have a place for it.
