Steel glove box insert

I found this last year at a pick a part in a 63 I believe, it was under the seat. Looks like it was tig welded without rod - just flash welded. I bought it for $3...need to get it installed after I fix my heater controls.

I also grabbed another glove box door for the new latch, then will sell the door. My original black and gray one has had a 'custom' latch that my uncle made in the mid 70's. It has worked ever since and opens every time. The trick is to close it normally, then to open you give it a light karate chop to the lower part of the door...opens perfectly. Hard to believe its worked this way without any adjustment for 40 yrs....but soon it will be replaced wit the original parts

Interesting on the glove-box liner. I wonder how noisy it would be with stuff in it?

Mine came with a flimsy aluminum box behind the stock door; very similar to this one.. Its not overly loud, but then again I cant hear anything over my exhaust at the moment!!!

I put a piece of the rubber kitchen shelf liner down, it stops the few basic hand tools from sliding around.

Great ideas....I was thinking maybe I would line it with felt using spray adhesive. Or maybe just put a small piece of dynomat underneath it. Its going to be odd having an actual push button to open the door...this has been this way since I was a toddler.

I made a sheetmetal glove box liner for my '63 when I was in high school. I glued some felt on the inside of it. My exhaust was so loud I doubt I would have heard any noise in there if I had not glued the felt in there.

It would definately last longer than the cardboard liners. There was a menber on www.stevesnovasite.com that was making them for 62-65 Novas. Might be a good thing for someone here to make and sell.. ..
