Im installing GMC leather Safari 2nd row seat in my '52. All easy, except I can't figure out how to remove the headrests.
Any help on this. Thanks |

Re: headrest
I'm not trying to be cute when I say it but I'd run by the local automotive upholstery shop and ask. There has to be a trick to it and I for one don't know the trick.
I got curious: http://www.astrosafari.com/viewtopic.php?f=13&t=5745 With a drawing http://www.justanswer.com/gmc/74m5x-...html#re.v/446/

Re: headrest
No, Yours doesnt have the same holder as the ones mentioned in that thread. There is no hole to push a release. Im assuming you have tried to just pull hard on it vertically?

Re: headrest
I figured out there is a release, but don't know how to get it. I hoping that someone has or onows how, w/o tearing seat apart.

Re: headrest
Both sides look the same. I cheated... I went to the boneyard and found a Safari with trashed interior. But, the headrest was there. I took my knife to it and exposed the top of the seat.
There is a slide button on each rest. It appears the you can push in on the seat cover just below the resting point of the headrest and it will release. All done, mystery resolved. |
