LSX adapters that Aruba1 mentioned in Ackattack's thread
-
I didn't want to muck up Ackattac's thread so here is a link to the e-Bay adapter plates that Aruba1 mentioned. I just ordered 2 sets. http://www.ebay.com/itm/131687298380...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT It says 4 position but you would actually have 8 positions with the '67-'72 trucks because of the two sets of frame holes.... I had a little trouble finding them on e-Bay without a link. LockDoc

I had doubts in posting the link because I didn't want to get in trouble :-(. I also bought a pair because the price is too good to pass. Cheers.

Those sure are cheap. I wish they would let you mount it a little back from stock though.

Any concern because they are so cheap? Inferior merl or bolts perhaps? It is certainly tempting

They are affordable because of low overhead, little advertising and not a greedy bunch of stock holders that demand high profits or some fat cat sitting behind a desk.
They also make high quality accessory drive brackets.

Re: LSX adapters that Aruba1 mentioned in Ackattack's thread
I purchased a set from them (LSX to SBC location, non-adjustable) over a year ago and I believe I paid like $45.
I was very pleased with the product however on my adapters I had to make some very small modifications. The adapters bottomed out (D and P side) on the ridge of the block and if you don't grind the ridge by roughly 1/4" you will bent the adapters or break something else. I think one of the countersink bolts had to be shorted a little bit as it bottomed out. The other issue was related to just the Passenger side. I had to cut off 1/4" of the bottom of the motor mount so it would clear the boss (?) where the a/c bracket is suppose to go. These are very minor modifications and in my opinion the adapters are too under-priced. Sorry for the broken english, lol. |

Made in the USA from aerospace grade billet aluminum. Includes: 2 adapter plates, 8 Stainless Steel FHSC bolts, and 6 flange bolts. I don't know what all that means but you can look it up.... If you enlarge the pictures you can also see the grade numbers on the head of the bolts. LockDoc

Re: LSX adapters that Aruba1 mentioned in Ackattack's thread
I've encountered bolts that are marked as Grade 8 that appeared to be made of Chinesium so markings aren't always enough.
I'd probably trust it though, motor mounts aren't that heavily stressed in most situations.

Re: LSX adapters that Aruba1 mentioned in Ackattack's thread
I'd be surprised if the aluminum is anything other than 6061 T6, as it's by far the most common (and often referred to as "aerospace grade"). Should be adequate for this, it's as strong as mild steel. I'd be far more concerned about the bolts.

Re: LSX adapters that Aruba1 mentioned in Ackattack's thread
These kits are not for you. Please purchase kits that cost $125 or more so you can have a piece of mind that what you are getting is the best of the best of the best.
I used a set in my truck a year ago (same company), they torqued just fine, they look like your normal bolts, the quality was really good and they don't seem like they would disintegrate after a few years. Guess what, the countersink bolts also torqued fine. |

Re: LSX adapters that Aruba1 mentioned in Ackattack's thread
Just wanted to post some pictures of the motor mount that I got in the mail today (free shipping included 2 day delivery). Now I only need to get a pre-1967 to use these adapters.
