craigslist ad few questions

this is what I found of the list from Craig.

Have 1971 fleet truck. 468 Chevy big block turbo 400 transmission and Dayna 60 rear end.
Engine not running needs over haul.

Take $1,200 or OBO

Did they ever come with 468? or did PO do that?

Seat is not stock.

Its a few hours away, wondering if i should check it out. I asked for more/better pics, plus SPID pic.

Re: craigslist ad few questions

Hey WarMonger,
468 c.i. is a 454 bored .070 over. That's about at the limit as I understand it. If the motor needs a major overhaul including a cylinder bore, it may be history. Others may chime in with more knowledge than I, but that's how I understand it. Good luck!

I've been around a few 468s in the past And they always seem to run hot for daily driving. Id loosely plan on a heart transplant if you were to purchase this one. Who knows you could buy it and have zero problems... Anything is possible.

Never came with a 468. Only big block in chev trucks of this era was the 396/402.

Re: craigslist ad few questions

I think the 468 is a .060 over bore. I had one in my Chevelle drag car it had an electric water pump the only time it ran hot is when I forgot to turn the pump or fan on. It did make some over 700 hp according to the dyno but it wasn't a plain ol big block it had roller cam stuff and other goodies making it have crazy power. Jim

Looks like it has a flat aluminum dash in it. Was it a drag truck?
