Alternator relocation?

Hey all quick question, I'm about to get going on my LS swap 1978 c10 RWD and one thing I notice for my generation c10 is the location of the alternator they all seem to be above the pulley rather than bellow. Is this just preference or does the alternator hit the frame, sway bar. I have a LS1 off a 98 z28 to swap and the alternator located below, just curious to know so that way I could be ready with whatever kit needed rather than delay. Thank you guys in advance 👍🏻

I have seen it both ways. my opinion on the subject is that MOST of th ls swaps these days are done by people on a budget and they (myself included) are using truck engines and accessories.

so the trucks tend to be above the power steering pump thus above the frame and the cars (at least the 98-02 camaros) tend to be belkow the PS pump.

I have a truck engine but i am slowly rounding up parts to convert mine over to use the low alternator bracket of the camaros.

izzy_Britton is correct. Im using a truck engine, using the truck accessory bracket. There are vendors that sell different relocation brackets for all the accessories.

My alternator is mounted in the low stock position with no problems. Camaro LS1/4l60e in a '67 Panel Truck. I had to move my engine forward a little after this picture was taken because the drivers side valve cover vent was hitting the firewall.
