My LSx swap is snowballing
I pulled out a good running 350 to start on my LSx 6.0 4L80 3:73 locker swap. It is almost turning into a full blown restoration.
I pulled out the motor and trans. Then the rear end and suspension. Stripped the firewall to clean up the black sealer sprayed everywhere. Pulled the column to swap in a tilt. Pulled the dash apart to swap the cluster, pad, and mount the ECU. Still need to pull the gas tank to swap in a new fuel system. Then I got the crazy idea to convert to a small back window. Where does it end?

Re: My LSx swap is snowballing
depends on your ultimate goal. yes you want to do all these things. and like advanced said, "while im at it i might as well..." but i have learned over the 30+ years of wrenching on cars/trucks pick a project and complete it. so do the ls swap with trans and rear axle. get it running... then do the column and dash etc.... then get it running.... do another upgrade... and get it running... so on, you get the picture. each time make it run to keep you motived. too many guys have some really great ideas but get overwhelmed with tooooo much at once then get burned out and never finish the project. just my .02

Re: My LSx swap is snowballing
Well, it has turned into a full blown restoration. I'm using a spare 5.3 for mock up while I continue to build a bad ass 6.0. So far the the frame has been straightened and cleaned up, front suspension all rebuilt, and new GM11C gas tank mounted.
Trying to keep it as a new daily driver and not a show queen. Oh the restrain... My 6.0 is on the stand and the 3.73 locker rear is on the floor. Parts everywhere.

These projects are never ending. There is so much more you can do when you have it torn down. You may as well do the extra things so you donto have to tear it down again. I think this happens to 90% of us. I can't tear something apart and then half ass the job. Keep up the good work!

Re: My LSx swap is snowballing
yep mine started then my buddy said "6 more bolts and the doors can come off" Well once the doors are off you might as well go all the way. Mine is my toy not my daily so all was well. It has been "completed" for 12 years or so.

Re: My LSx swap is snowballing
I got the rest of the driveline installed. Needed a 1" shorter driveshaft. Maybe because I lowered the rear when I flipped the axle? I did not move the axle back 1" like most flip kits. I didn't want the rear wheels out of center with the bed sides. The motor is set 1.25" forward from stock. The RH motor mount was moved back 1.75" on frame so I could use AC in stock location.
Fuel system complete, headers in. Next is brakes and lines then exhaust...

Re: My LSx swap is snowballing
Also new intake manifold. I just couldn't live with that ugly factory truck intake.
