Quick Clean up 85 c20

Picked this up today for a steal, It was so clean I couldn't pass it up, its a C20 with the C6P Heavy duty Chassis package and is a Silverado Package. 350 th400 interestingly enough this can hold a bigger camper than the dually but just 100 lbs less weight . I went and looked at it and it wouldn't hardly run, y pipe is broken and held together with a tin can and a worm clamp , I managed to drive it home 25 miles at 65-70 mph got it home and tinkered with it to find out its got a big vac leak under the carb adapter , the dist was super loose, it is in sad shape. The ad said it had a rebuilt engine with 1000 miles ,, needless to say when i asked the guy about it he couldn't seem to locate the paperwork ..lol I could see by the 2 inches thick of grease on the block it wasn't rebuilt but did seem to run OK on the highway.

Re: Quick Clean up 85 c20

Not sure yet I think I'm just going to clean it up, redo the interior and drop in a vortec long block with a zz4 cam and rebuild the TH400 or find a 4l80E

Re: Quick Clean up 85 c20

OK got the exhaust redone today , The Original was broken right after the Y on the Y pipe, They had it wrapped up with muffler putty and tin flashing and worm clamps..lol

I just had em replace it from there back with a flowmaster knockoff Xcelerator Muffler

I found a used bolt on tip out in the scrap pile.. so I asked what he wanted for it and He gave it to me for free.

Also pushed out some of the damaged rear lower quarter.

Re: Quick Clean up 85 c20

Took the seat and carpet out yesterday, it was so nasty I couldn't stand riding in it until I get it redone..

Gotta love texas trucks..

Heater core had been leaking for sometime I guess,

just sprayed down the carpet to get most of the funk out till I can clean the floor off and coat it and add some dynomat and install new padding and carpet and different seats.
I go to school full time so I need to drive it 4 days a week.

damn sure smells better .

Re: Quick Clean up 85 c20

Picked up a Pressure washer from Tractor supply and went to town on the bottom , Man this thing is clean, but the 30 year old grease was tough to crack, had to use te 0 Degree tip to blast it loose , and I picked up a 90 LO5 from a g20 van fan to flywheel, so thats going in next week and this mix matched pile of crap 350 is coming out.

Re: Quick Clean up 85 c20

Right on. LO5 have a mechanical fuel pump? Come with a serpentine setup?

Truck looks to be in pretty good shape. Do you know of any other local yards that have c10s besides wrench apart in Belton?

Sweet. There was a nice truck under the crud. Are you planning on dog dish caps or different wheels?
