85 K15 Will bump but wont start
The Carb has fuel going to it, but it doesnt seem like it wants to run. All cyl have spark, correct timing, firing order correct. Dump fuel down the carb and it starts but doesnt stay running. crank without fuel down the carb and it will bump like only one cylinder has spark. The fuel filter (From tank to Fuel pump) is backwards, would that matter? or does it absolutely have to be from pump to carb?
Can anyone help? im guessing carb problem. Just a stocker Q-jet on an Edelbrock intake. |

Narrowed it down a little. Not a Fuel problem. it is definitely getting enough fuel.
Its flooded now, waiting for it to air out before i try adjusting the timing slightly.. |

Sounds to me like you have your self a vacuum issue. Have you checked all your vacuum lines for leaks and or correct hook up? I had a problem with vacuum lines on a 86 back in the day boy it can cause all kinds of different problems.

Re: 85 K15 Will bump but wont start
Its a TBI motor carb swapped, so there isnt really all the correct hook ups. there is a line off the Evap canister, but the rest of the lines on the carb are hooked up (I think). Ill take a look tomorrow if im off work early enough and see if i can find a problem. I know there is the brake booster vac line hooked up, the choke line hooked up, the one to the PCV valve (Other hole for PCV valve isnt hooked up) but there isnt a space for it. and the solid line running from the Exh manifolds to the Int manifold. Ill do some research in the meantime

From looking at Vac line diagrams for a Gen 1 Carbed 350 it looks like there isnt even close to that many on my truck so, if all the spidery mess of a Q-jet is still open in my truck, i will be blocking a lot off.

She lives! The plugs on the passenger bank weren't correctly gapped so they wouldn't spark. Gapped them and fooled around with the timing and she runs!
