Under-bed gas tanks on static lowered trucks
I'd be interested to hear from anyone who's fitted an under bed tank on a truck with a 6" plus static rear drop. I'm considering either the LMC or brothers kits but I'm unable to find pics showing ground clearance.

Re: Under-bed gas tanks on static lowered trucks
I'm around 6" down in the rear, and I have probably the hangy-ist fuel cell lol. I have a 16gal fabbed cell that sits well below the truck. I have around 8" between the bottom of my cell and the road.
I've put 15k+ miles on my swap through 5 states, road over lots of crap, and never had an issue. I wouldn't do it with a plastic cell because of cracking.

Re: Under-bed gas tanks on static lowered trucks
I am at 5" of drop with a Boyd welding tank and I had room to crawl under the truck and replace the fuel pump that is bolted just in front of it.

Re: Under-bed gas tanks on static lowered trucks

Re: Under-bed gas tanks on static lowered trucks
Mine will be static dropped and I went with the tanks INC mu tank. I like it and got off flea bay for a couple hundred bucks from lead mine. It doesn't hang down to far and takes 30 ohm sender in top

Re: Under-bed gas tanks on static lowered trucks
'65 with a 6" static drop in the rear. I used the CPP 20gal. tank it hangs down about 6inche below the frame rail at it's lowest. I probably have 10-11" of ground clearance right now. But, I'm still on 265x70x17 tire. The height will drop since I want to go to a 60 or 55 series tire.
For the record, the CPP tank was a nice clean install. I would use their product again. |

Re: Under-bed gas tanks on static lowered trucks
I used a 60 Ford Falcon tank, wich tucked up into the framerails super nice. I mounted it to the inside on the top part of the frame and it hardly hangs down past the bottom of the frame at all. Bought a repop version for dirt cheap too.

A while back I asked for some gas tank pics and many members obliged. Here's the link http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=621177
