Hi, guys.
My gmc was changed over to Chevy cosmetics back in the 80's ![]() I'd really like to put it back to what it was, put a gmc grille back in it. My question: Am I gonna have to get gmc fenders and a hood also? At first I thought maybe they just swapped out the gmc grill for a chevy grill. But now I'm thinking they put a whole new front clip on it. Any help you could offer would be appreciated. |

Re: Chevy to gmc fenders hood question
Nice truck. You would need grille, fenders, four eyed core support, and a bumper with no turn signal holes. All '67-'72 GMC fenders are the same, and the same as '67 and '68 chevy fenders, but the '69-'72 chevy fenders are different. Hood will work.

Re: Chevy to gmc fenders hood question
Yes, I wouldn't touch it myself. The parts aren't expensive, but you would have to match up the paint and that whole nightmare. Probably had a front end impact and the whole clip from a '71 or '72 chevy was put on

Re: Chevy to gmc fenders hood question
I agree with the above, I would love to see another truck back as a GMC, but it's just too much work for a truck that looks really nice. Does the tailgate say Chevrolet too? That more parts/paint/$. Very cool truck, just enjoy it as is.
Better idea... find a beat up 67/68 C10 that needs some love, and turn it into a GMC ![]()

That's a nice truck you have there. Unless you have money to spend I'd leave it!

Re: Chevy to gmc fenders hood question
I think your truck needs a GMC grill but only if you have a GMC stamped tailgate, other then that I like the look of your truck. I have heard of guys modding there rad suport headlight cups to make them work for chevy conversion but I have no experience with that or if it's possible. Have a good look at it maybe this is what they did in the first place. just a thought.
I hope this question does not hijack your thread. Sorry if it does. How does a new be like "ME" tell the difference between a Chevy and GM fenders for the 69-72 year models. I am a visual guy and pic would be great thing for my reference when I am out and about. |

Re: Chevy to gmc fenders hood question
1. 1967 Chevrolet & GMC fender (same as 1968, just no side markers).
2. 1968 Chevrolet & 1968-1972 GMC fender. 3 & 4. 1969-1972 Chevrolet Fender. It has an "indent" that the Chevrolet Grille fits over.

Re: Chevy to gmc fenders hood question
Yup. However, I see people miss label fenders on ebay and craigslist ALL THE TIME for these trucks. So it helps to know what you're looking at.

Excellent info, guys. Thank you!
Yeah, I gotta pay for this thing before I go spending a bunch on parts and paint. I'll leave it like it is until I get the cash to do it back right. Thanks again! |

Re: Chevy to gmc fenders hood question
No problem. Great looking truck. Enjoy her! After driving it for a while you might just want to leave it as is.
